DIMMU BORGIR Guitarist Is 'Sure' Wait For Next Album Will Be Shorter
August 13, 2018DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Silenoz spoke with Rawstatica about the eight-year gap between the band's 2010 album, "Abrahadabra", and its latest release, 2018's "Eonian". "Time is important, yeah, sure, and we usually lose track of time," he said (see video below). "So, for us, it doesn't feel like it's been eight years since the previous album. We cannot deliver something that we cannot stand behind 110 percent, so it has to take the time that it takes to finish it."
Silenoz went on to say that he is convinced the wait for the next DIMMU BORGIR album will be shorter. "I'm sure it won't [take as long next time around], but it is what it is," he said. "For us to feel 100 percent confident, we need to be ready to deliver the album to the label. Then it's out of our hands, out of our control, and the beast just has to live its own life from there on."
He added: "We have also deliberately kept a low profile the last few years to just focus on the task at hand, which was the new album. So that's why we haven't played much live. We're gonna try to make up for that now."
Released on May 4 via Nuclear Blast, "Eonian" contains 10 new tracks, produced by the band itself and engineered by Jens Bogren.
As previously reported, DIMMU BORGIR and KREATOR will team up for a big European co-headline run in late fall. Support on the trek will come from U.S. hardcore institution HATEBREED and death metal supergroup BLOODBATH.
